Which martial art combines acrobatics with self defence the best?

Posted on January 7th, 2010 by admin, under best martial art.

Im thinkin of learning a martial art, partly to learn self defense and partly to have a bit of a challenge, a few cool tricks up my sleeve. Like brazilian capoeira but slightly more focused on the self defence.

That would depend on schools, not styles again. Not the acrobatics, but the balance between the two.

Three potential arts in your hand are Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, or Capoeira. WuShu isn’t meant for self-defense I might add, but again: It depends on the school.

If you have access to any of those styles in your area, call and ask about what they teach, ask about self-defense, and more. You have to go about this like you’re searching for a new car.

I know a couple good Capoeira schools that either make self defense paramount, or they incorporate other things to make it complete (For example- Adding BJJ and Boxing, so all fighting ranges are covered).

Don’t we MEN have the right to say martial arts is only for US, if WOMEN insist that romance is only FOR THEM?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under women martial arts.

Women insist that romance is only for them! That we men can’t cry! Or show emotion! Men and women alike think that way! So why can’t we men claim that martial arts and action is only for us? You claim romance is only for you!
Ever hear people say "please hand in your man-card" when a man admits to liking romance?!!

I train in Martial Arts, I don’t think it’s only for women. Infact I think it’s more important for women to take a self defense course than a man. Men are physically bigger and stronger than women and learning a martial art is one of the most effective way for a woman to defend herself outside of buying a gun. But as with guns, mace, pepper spray, or tasers these can be taken from you and used against you. Martial arts cannot be taken from you.

What is the best martial art to condition an upper body rigourously and get you in shape the quickest.?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under best martial art.

I understand everything takes time, and I want to stick with a martial art for a long amount of time, if not the rest of my life, but I also want a high intensity work out for my abs and chest, and to burn a lot of calories.

there is no best..

most striking arts tend to lay a lot of importance on the physical aspect.
However I have practiced capoeira for about 2 years now myself and have found it great stuff for physical training and that’s capoeira. the first few weeks I started training i was usually as stiff as a board due to the intensity of the workouts, but looking at my body at this moment I have no reason to complain…

Can I cool down my gloves?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under martial arts gloves.

What can you do to make boxing gloves not so sweaty and hot? I use them in a martial arts class.

Talcin powder with hand wraps will work. You should be strapping your hands before sparring anyway to reduce the risk of injury to them.

Is Martial arts impressive or attractive to women?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under women martial arts.

Hey i have a black-belt in martial arts im a pretty good. The only thing is i dont know if girls find it nerdy or impressive so i usually dont say anything about it unless they ask what sport i do

Dude, seriously, how old are you?

Who cares about what women think. As long as you’re doing something you love.

If you”re passionate about something, I think girls are more into that factor alone than actually what it is you’re passionate about.

Don’t worry about it.

What is the best martial art against multiple people?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under best martial art.

I’ve been taking jiu jitsu but i’m concerned that it isnt effective against multiple people. is there a better martial art? Is jiu jitsu effective?

Aikido is interesting. From what I’ve seen, Akkido is really good when you’re a high level blackbelt. But when you’re not, you’re probably going to look like an idiot.

As for Martial Arts against multiple people.

Escrima works pretty well, mainly because you’re learning how to beat people down with weapons.

Combat Judo works really well against multiple people. Because when you’re fighting against multiple people, they’ll usually try to come charging towards you, Combat Judo teaches you how to use that momentum to throw your opponent. The difference is that Combat Judo verses regular judo, is that every throw in combat judo lands your opponent on their head. However, Combat Judo is very rare outside of Japan.

Combat Sambo too, is supposed to be a good style against multiple people as well. But again, is rare outside of Russia.

Other than those two, the rest Martial arts that are good against multiple people are Silat (another rare one), Krav Maga, and McNinja. McNinja you can’t learn unless you’re in the Marines. But Krav Maga is somewhat popular. Silat, if you’re in a major city, is findable. But its hard.

Muay Thai works too, but that’s because you practically beat everyone to death with it.

A new Martial Art to learn? Any suggestions?

Posted on January 4th, 2010 by admin, under martial arts gloves.

I have studied both Muay Thai and Krav Maga. I would like to try a new Martial Art, but can’t decide what to try next. I dislike using gloves, although don’t mind using the sort that are used in UFC, or mixed martial arts (MMA). I dislike floor work, such as grappling. Can anyone suggest a new art to try?

Well you would most likely want to do Shaolin Kung Fu and/or Shotokan Karate or Chun Kuk Do Karate or Tae Kwon Do. Shaolin Kung Fu doesn’t use gloves and it doesn’t have much floor work.
