Fitness tips and help required. (LONG)?
Posted on November 4th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
Hello there =D
I want to get rid of my flab and fat and tone up, get stronger and feel better.
I’m 15 yrs old, 5.6 and 141 pounds, male and I need some help…FAST before i get diabetes, a heart condition or some other serious condition.
When I am 16 I want to do Brazillian Ju Jitsu or Muay Thai or maybe even Tae Kwon Do but I couldn’t do It now, I would make a fool of myself with my level of fitness (so terrible.. ) + My family is so poor atm due to some family issues so if i could have the lessons i wouldn’t be able to due to that reason and no one employes 15 yr olds round here…
I want to become involved in some sort of activity like wrestling or fighting or something along those lines but i can’t afford any training equipment. So all i have is the gym (can only go when my mum goes) which is like twice a week usually tuesdays/thursdays and saturdays and sometimes all 3 and on rare occasions sunday aswell
and the other thing i have is a punch bag but its in an awkward place so i cant really move i just have to stand there and punch, move a little etc..
Anyway i don’t really know what to do with the punch bag cuz i’m just(trying) pulling my self up on it but i fail at that so i’m putting my legs on the ladder thingy next to my punchbag and pulling my self up with the strength of my legs aswell but i’m probably doing it wrong and injuring my self.
I’m doing pushups but i need to build my arms up before i can do atleast sets of 10 of them so i’m doing it without the weight of my legs (on my knees)
the gym is all good but when we dont go i need things to do at home (please dont say jog round the block or cycle because i wont, i just know it..)
I need tips on what to eat because my diet is pretty bad atm. I know i need the obvious things like fruit and veg, protein not a lot of fat (although i heard fat is used for building your body so i’m confused lol)
and to eat well, but my appetiete is bad so i don’t really know what to eat, because i tried to do this fitness thing back in august and i just diverted off..
sorry for being so long and not just asking the question of what i should do.
You can lose weight if you tried right way. I tried many way, but could not lose weight. I found the best way that works just amazing for anyone. I lost my weight fast using this diet way. You need to have look right info that works. I lost 18 pounds after 60 days with this diet way. I highly recommend you. You can get more info here link below.

This is a silly question, but can i spar without equipment?
Posted on October 16th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
My friend keeps saying that at his Tae Kwon Do place he use to go several years ago, he said that they didn’t really use too much equipment and he dosen’t seem to mine. He always wants to challenge me, but I decline because I’m afraid I might hurt him, but he calls me a *ahem* other name for a cat.
We did TRY to spar, but I held back. So the next time we spar, should i just go all out?
Going all out isn’t sparring, that’s just fighting. Your opponent shouldn’t be hurt at the end of a session. And in all types of TKD, lots of equipment is used e.g. ITF TKD uses gloves, foot pads, shin pads, cup(important!!!!) and a gum shield. WTF TKD uses Helmets, gumshields and chest protector. The only time equipment would not be used is in non contact sparring.
And if it’s just you and your friend challenging each other, then i’d recommend you stay away from sparring til you’ve had a few lessons.
P.S. your friend sounds retarded.

Fitness and Diet question?
Posted on October 6th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
I’m 16 years old (boy) and I want to spend some time working on making some muscles and a nice body. I wanted to ask what would be some exercises I can do at home, equipment I can buy (weights etc) and what I should eat? I’m looking mainly for building the muscles on my arms, chest, and abdomen.
Also, I’m hearing that there is a limit in the weights I should lift for my age. Having had tae-kwon-do classes until last year I am in a pretty good shape, but I lost my elasticity and strength, and want to rebuild it.
Notice that proposing that I should take things like proteins or other supplements without the traditional way of eating them, will just result in a thumbs down.
if you are young and in shape, then the only 2 things i would suggest for your diet are 1 – sufficient lean meat, like deli turkey and baked chicken and good lean cuts of tender steak, and 2 – avoid excess refined carbs like white flour and sugar …
for fitness, swim if you can and get some kick-box aerobics and start with hand weights, 5 and 10 lbs to start, then 15 as you can do more weight for more reps … shoot for feeling the burn at about 15 reps and repeat at least 3 times … you should feel jello-ee and fatigued afterwards …
next try to join a gym and get the trainers to show you how to do the weight machines that work more than 1 muscle group at a time … do that for a while and you can figure out what kind of equipment works for you …

Can’t find a store selling pair of Adidas Martial Arts shoes – Georgia?
Posted on October 6th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
Before I begin, here are the shoes in question:
Adidas SM-II

Finding a store selling martial arts equipment is apparently alot harder than it looks. I’ve done alot of searching in google and the yellow pages, and after getting in touch with one particular Tae Kwon Do center I was referred to a store, but they only had their own special brand of shoe.
If anyone could point me to a store, specializing in martial arts or not, that may be selling this shoe somewhere in Georgia, I would be very grateful.
You have two options:
1) Purchase them over the Internet
2) Contact a local shoe store which will order them for you.

I need a workout boost!?
Posted on October 4th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
I’ve lost about 20 pounds since starting to lose weight but now I am stuck at my current weight… have been for like two months.
What is a good boost to my workout?
I do Tae Kwon Do for an hour and a half twice a week, I do more whenever I can. I try to watch what I eat. I usually walk to and from work every day (15-20 minutes each way).
What would be a good boost to my workout to start losing more weight. I’d like to lose about 20 more pounds. What are some good arm and ab exercises (I don’t really have any equipment… I already know the basic stuff too so please don’t say push-ups or situps unless it is some kind of variation).
Also, what is the best way to get rid of the fat on your abs… all of my weight is right on my stomach. I know cardio is good for fat-burning, but is there a particular ab exercise that will target that area?
Well.. If you want to lose more weight take some time out of your day and go running it really helps.. And about the eating it’s not really what you eat it HOW MUCH you eat of it… Watch " I Can Make You Thin" on TLC i’m not really even trying to lose weight and i have just by going with some of the stuff that this guy says and running a little…
Hope I Helped!

Good Luck!

Please help with exercise!?
Posted on October 2nd, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
okay, it is summer. During the school year i had tae kwon do, P.E, ect. But during the summer i am home a lot, i get bored i eat. Not good. I can already see the toll it has taken on my body and i lost a lot of weight last year and i don’t want it to come back. I am a 93 Pound 13 year old, really short. Anything i can do at home to exercise? i have no Equipment. So please please please give me some ideas. The amount of calories it burns helps too. Please and thanks ![]()
Right.
Do some simple exercises such as strectching your muscles in your arms and legs, maybe if you are confident then you can try some sit ups.
For your eating habits, then you should try and eat healthier alternatives such as lower calorie foods, or eat seeds and fruit when you get bored, so at least when you snack, then you are not gaining many calories, and are getting some of the 5 a day that you need if you are eating food.
How about you go to the park with your friends or walk downtown. Walking is very good exercise, so you can walk faster up the stairs in your house for example, or if you live in a flat, then you can just walk faster to tone your calf muscles.
Good luck

Transitioning into boxing?
Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
I have 10 years of Tae Kwon Do training. My gym recently opened up a boxing facility. I’ve wanted to learn about boxing, now that I have the facility this is a great chance. Only they just basically have the bags; they don’t offer training. It’s really just intended for cardio and to fill up part of the aerobics room in the basement. But they do have a nice selection of equipment including heavy bags ranging from 30 lb. bags up to 150 lbs., free hanging as well as those stationed from the ground, speed bags and striking bags. I have the martial arts strikes down. But I would like to learn the boxing style of fighting. Does anyone have training suggestions or some good resources (books, videos, ect.) that they could recommend? I’m not in an area that offers boxing training so I don’t have access to a trainer. That’s what you get for living in the sticks! I’d have to basically train myself. Thanks for the help!
from the lack of replies you can see the fact is it is very tough to learn boxing without a coach or sparring.
basically nothing you learn on a bag even with a coach, will work without application during proper boxing sparring.
So you actually need two things. A coach and a sparring partner.
I’d suggest if you were really keen ask around and see who might teach you. Maybe there is a cop who did a little in the academy or some old ex army guy who used to do it? Put an ad in the paper and offer to mow lawns or something if you are a kid, or pay them to train you.
And then see who else wants to come along.

Boxing routine/training resources?
Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin, under tae kwon do equipment.
I’ve practice Tae Kwon Do for 10 years but would like to add some boxing training to my workout also. The martial arts has worked well; but it doesn’t really incorperate other training such as weight training, cardio and diet into the routine as boxing does. I mean when I do Tae Kwon Do, the martial arts itself is the cardio and training.
I’m looking for suggestions on good books, videos, or websites to start a training routine. I’m not familiar with boxing. Something a bit more specific than to "watch Rocky," haha. I do have a gym set up for Tae Kwon Do including a hanging heavy bag, gloves, weight set, and jump ropes. I also have access to a gym when I’m home from college for the summers that includes a boxing gym (no trainers, just the equipment–many different heavy bags, speed bags, ect.)
I realize you need a sparring partner and to shadow box to properly learn boxing; but I’m doing this more for the training aspect. I’m not going to be entering a boxing match anytime soon! Thanks for any advice.
