Ok,so I was a Hard core Stand up guy, think one hit, sprawls and all that would keep you from getting taken down. Well My friend Brandon told me about BJJ,and how cool it was,and the owner was trained By Royce Gracie,so I went in,and I told them Yes I have had experience, well David (Instructor for that day who’s a brown belt) asked if He could use an example out of me,so I put on MMA Gloves, and he did as well, well He set me up and went for a shoot, and he stayed so tight to me,I could do anything,he stayed low and heavy on me,and was very fast with his transfers,He made me feel like an idiot lol,so anyways I had gotten into a Triangle from Mount, could do crap, then got one when I was in his guard and punching in it,he got one,I figured,Oh slam him and postured up…Nope.. so Now Im thinking a good 99.99999% of you guys really dont understand how hard it is to get out of these submissions,so I bought my Gi,and joined haha. There great guys. So does this meen I am more open minded?
Oh By the way,I did Boxing, and Kickboxing.
I meen I couldnt do anything..not could
Actually not at all,I knew this is how you people would react,People sit here on there asses as.ses all day and think of myths, and things you do that seems like it would work on paper, but Its a whole different world out there.
As tue as that is,In the street, its not limited to Just striking,so I think Grapling is better for the street, because you are not forced to stand and Bang, but you can be easily forced to fall onto the ground, and get somthing broken and choked out.
no i think youre more open minded now i see this all the time where i train stand up guys come in and get taken down and submitted even by white belts you are not alone keep on training

of course you’re more open minded…which is a good thing.
the reason he made you look like such a fool is the same (and only) reason royce gracie always won the first 3 ufc’s….nobody knew how to counter him. like you…you know nothing about groundfighting so he beat you easily.
on the other hand, the same could be said of them…put them in a kickboxing match and watch them fall.
lesson:…you need to learn to do it all.
3 basic ranges
1 striking 2 clinching 3 ground.

of course. BJJ is an ART not a bunch of lucky outcomes. you think no one in the history of Judo (before BJJ) thought to slam someone whilst in a triangle? cmon…. this stuff is planned out and is scientifically done. you can’t just throw someone off you in mount, you can’t just power bomb while in a triangle, you can’t just hit their crotch in guard or any of that caveman sh*t. it’s natural human reaction to do that. there is counters for natural human reaction.
